At Rockcliffe Getaway, we understand that plans can change. However, as a small owner-operated property with a single rental unit, late cancellations significantly impact our ability to operate. Our policy is designed to be fair and transparent while protecting the sustainability of our business.
Our Policy: Strict — 60 Days

No Exceptions Policy
We maintain a strict no-exception cancellation policy. We do not offer refunds or date changes for personal circumstances, including but not limited to:
- Illness or injury (personal or family member)
- Flight cancellations or travel delays
- Changes in work commitments or employment
- Weather conditions that do not prevent travel
- Changes in travel plans or destination preferences
- COVID-19 exposure or positive tests (unless government-mandated)
The only exception to this policy is a government-mandated closure. If local, provincial, or federal authorities issue a mandatory evacuation order or closure for the Oliver area (such as during wildfire events), we will offer a full refund or credit for future stay, at your choice.
Travel Insurance Is Required
Because we maintain a strict no-exception policy, we require all guests to purchase comprehensive travel insurance at the time of booking. This is not optional—it is a condition of your reservation.
Your travel insurance policy must cover:
- Trip cancellation due to illness or injury
- Medical emergencies
- Flight disruptions or delays
- Other unforeseen circumstances preventing travel
Travel insurance protects both you and our small business. If you decline to purchase travel insurance, you acknowledge that you are solely responsible for any financial loss incurred due to cancellation.

The cancellation date is the date we receive your written cancellation request. Verbal cancellations are not accepted.
Refund Processing
- Approved refunds will be processed to your original payment method within 5–10 business days.
- The $300 CAD security deposit is refunded separately within 14 days of check-out, provided the property is left in satisfactory condition.
- Stripe processing fees may be non-refundable depending on your bank.
Date Changes and Modifications
- Requests to change your booking dates are subject to availability and must be made at least 60 days before check-in.
- Date change requests made within 60 days of check-in are treated as a cancellation and re-booking and are subject to this cancellation policy.
- Rate differences may apply when changing to higher or lower season dates.
Government-Mandated Closures (Wildfires, etc.)
In the rare event that local authorities issue a mandatory evacuation order for the Oliver area due to wildfire, flooding, or other emergency, the following applies:
- We will offer a full refund to your original payment method, OR
- A 100% credit for a future stay within 12 months (your choice)
- Supporting documentation from authorities may be required
This exception applies only to government-mandated closures, not to voluntary decisions to cancel due to weather warnings, air quality concerns, or personal discomfort with conditions.
VRBO and Third-Party Bookings
Bookings made through third-party platforms such as VRBO are subject to the cancellation policy displayed on those platforms at the time of booking, which mirrors our Strict 60-Day policy. Please refer to your booking confirmation from those platforms for specific details.
